We can track a bag of coffee right to the farm where it was harvested. We work hand in hand with small growers to implement sustainable, fair trade practices. As a country-of-origin roaster, we harvest only 100% SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) grown at altitudes above 1,300 meters above sea level. We hand-pick, sun dry and roast in small batches only the choicest beans and ship them fresh right from our plantations. And we are fully committed to quality. I rarely drank coffee before visiting Costa Rica. Just couldn't get past the acidity & bitterness. Imagine my surprise when first tasting Cafe Britt!! I was & am hooked ... for life!! My favorite is the Espresso - great flavor & no bite! Absolutely loved the tour, entertainment, food & coffee drinks at the Cafe Britt plantation in Heredia. Can't wait to return!! I only buy whole bean coffee and grind daily because fresh taste is very important,no chance for the delicate oil to be racid,I also compost the spent grounds and use them in my organic garden.
For me the best thing about Britt is the Organic shade grown product, I can be assured that the diverse eco-system is protected and people are not exposed to dangerous chemicals.
The smell of the coffe reminded me of my wonderful travels throughout Costa Rica where my husband learned that the simple words "Cafe con leche, por favor" open a world of pleasure where ever you go. It reminds me of seeing the Poas Volcano on a perfectly sunny day and having our suitcases smell of Britt coffee long after we returned home. This huge package of coffee that arrived at my door today also ensured me that for a long time, I have the best coffee at my house. I also can easily give some to my friends who have listened patiently to my enthusiastic accounts of Britt coffee from Costa Rica.
