A Fresh Morning Caress
A must try for coffee lovers who crave the best. Backed by two centuries of expertise and nurtured amid cool volcanic mountains and an ideal climate, the coffees of the Tres Rios region are considered "the Bordeaux" of Costa Rica. Dark roasted, the penetrating, honey-nut aroma of Café Britt Tres Rios compliments the hints of plum and allspice in its elegant, complex flavor. This coffee caresses the palate with a memorable soft and friendly finish.

My wife and I went to Coata Rica in 2004 and had Tres Rios Valdivia. The best coffee we have had. We have been buying it ever since. Its the best!
I love the aroma that greets me when I walk into my kitchen for the first cup of the day. I even like the morning news better with a cup in my hand.
Every 2 months I receive a shipment of coffee from Cafe Britt. I always order 9 different coffees however, I normally order 4 bags of Tres Rios. I typically have one coffee type one week then use Tres Rios for a week alternating. While I think I could just drink Tres Rios all the time, Cafe Britt's coffee's are all great and I like to change it up while keeping my favorite(Tres Rios) in the mix more than the others.
We discovered what real coffee can be during our 1st trip to Costa Rica. When we got back we couldn't get used to supermarket coffee, so started ordering on-line. We'll never go back to the old coffee!!
I get just one cup a day and it will be Tres Rios!
Absolutely delightful!
This coffee starts the day so smoothly! IT's aroma while brewing is awesome! And the taste...it takes me back to Costa Rica and sitting on my hotel porch at the base of Arenal enjoying this flavorful coffee! Every time I drink it, it feels like I am back there.
I'm a bit of a coffee snob and this is my favorite coffee. Very unique flavor, I love it.
This is the absolute greatest coffee! It puts you in a trance! Great anytime of day!
Cafe Britt's Costa Rican gourmet coffees are my little slice of paradise each day. My husband and I enjoyed our first taste of these fabulous coffees on a recent trip to Costa Rica. We love the Tres Rios Valdivia blend because of the smooth, mellow (not weak or watered down) flavor we savor with each sip. It does not have a burnt taste and doesn't leave an oily residue on our palette. It adds the necessary perk to our morning without an overwhelming bite. Our favorite way to start our day is by adding a dab of creamer to our morning brew and finishing the cup with foamed milk.
We shared our brew with family and friends upon our return and each and everyone has asked (and most purchased) their first bags of Cafe Britt soon after. You won't be disappointed with a purchase of the whole beans and will definitely find yourself coming back for more.
My husband and I were introduced to Cafe Britt during our Costa Rican honeymoon. Foolishly we tried to satisfy our coffee needs with store bought coffee for almost a year afterwards. Then we order a mixed case of all of Cafe Britt's Costa Rican coffees. While they are all fantastic, Tres Rios is my hands down favorite. It has a smooth velvety texture with hints of nuts and cocoa. It is the only coffee I have ever opened and spontaneously popped the beans in my mouth!
This is the only cup of coffee I want when I wake up in the morning. I look forward to it as soon as I wake up. There is nothing like it and I have tried many, many different coffees. This by far exceeds all of that I have ever tried.
I am not a coffee drinker but my mom buys this coffee and this is my favorite flavor. I drink two cups in the morning and it doesn't taste like regular burnt coffee.
One of the best to wake me up :)
I discovered this coffee about 9 years ago on a cruise and have been drinking it ever since. Nothing compares at this price for the value. It is the smoothest and most satisfying coffee I have found. I have the entire coffee drinking group at work addicted to this brand by free samples. Once you try it, there is no going back. For little will ever compare to it.
This is the PERFECT cup of coffee!
This is the coffee I start my day with. I think I'm just crazy about how smooth it tastes and how there is no acidity. It's just rich and lovely. It makes me realize how much I've been missing this coffee in my life before now. Not anymore...I buy 6 bags at a time so that I always have it. Great gift too! If you like a morning jolt, this isn't the coffee for you. If you prefer rich and smooth you should try it.
I love waking to the aroma of this coffee. I use it mostly on weekends when we can enjoy the entire pot. We also enjoy serving it to friends when they come over to dinner and have made it a gift to friends who haven't tried it yet.
The best coffee I have ever had.
Had the opportunity to sample this coffee while in Costa Rica and loved it so much brought a bunch of it back with us. With a little lechera, it is just like being back in Guanacaste.
I have seached the internet for the best cup of coffee. I had thought that the Hawaiian Kona roasts were the best until I tried the Tres Rios Valdivia. This one has all the good and none of the bad. I like my coffee with a little cream and sugar and this roast has a great flavor that doesn't dissappear the way I like it. It is the only coffee I dink in the morning now and I have tried many from most of the internet retailers.
If you can't live in Costa Rica, bring Costa Rica home with you!
I bought this product for the first time in Costa Rica three years ago. I have since placed several orders online. This is a very easygoing coffe with enough caffeine to wake me up but not give me the shakes. It is enjoyed in my home by myself, the coffee drinker, my husband the coffee novice and my daughter, who has given up her sweet style coffee shop drinks in favor of Tres Rios.
starbucks is in trouble
When you want a milder cup but still want great flavor
Rich, full bodied flavor and so smooth with no bitterness. We change from dark roast to this sometimes to mix things up but the coffees from Britt are the best!
From the first time I visited Cafe Britt in Costa Rica, I feel in love with Tres Rios. Smooth, yet pleasently strong coffee with the most wonderful aroma! LOVE IT!
Best made with the French press, this coffee is the reason I started liking coffee! When visiting Costa Rica, I took a tour of Cafe Britt's facilities. I sent packages of coffee home to my parents, but they ended up giving it back to me because it was too strong! This aspect happens to be what I love about this coffee -- I think most of us Americans brew coffee way too weak, and therefore can't appreciate the robust flavors I've come to love in coffee! This is the perfect example of what a coffee should taste like; earthy, full, and intriguing!
I love the Brit Dark Roast, with the wonderful smell and flavor that takes me back to Costa Rica with each cup. I thought I would try the volcanic grown Tres Rios for a change. It was not dark enough for me and the great smell as I hand ground my beans was not the same. I will go back to sending for the Brit Dark Roast. This is good for those who like a light roast.
I moved to San Ramon de Tres Rios 3 months ago. I usually pick up a bag of the Shade Grown Organic Britt brand when at the store. Yesterday I picked up 2 bags of the Tres Rios... one for me, one to ship to my friend who's birthday was last week.
This morning, I brewed a pot and added sweetened condensed milk to accompany my bagel breakfast. All I can say is WOW.
My boyfriend, who usually isn't a coffee drinker, enjoyed a cup with me.
It's true what they say... it really does keep it's flavor even at room temp or when consumed cold.
I officially have a new favorite coffee.
I discovered this coffee on a trip to Costa Rica a year ago. I haven't used any other coffee since! Even gave up my Starbucks habit!
I am a big coffee drinker about 7 mugs a day. Ever since my trip to Costa Rica I will not drink any other coffee. I love the smooth rich taste, and just can't get enough of it.
Great morning coffee wonderful aroma and flavor
I fell in love with this coffee on my trip to Costa Rica last year. It is an amazing balance of flavor and intensity without any hint of bitterness or "edge". Strong and smooth, it is now my only coffee. I even give it as gifts to customers. Simply outstanding!
I buy it by the case and include your coffee in my housewarming gifts along with homemade patries.
I enjoy my share every day.
I must start trying other coffe products but am the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" type of Gal
I was introduced to Cafe Britt while visiting Costa Rica-love your country too.
Many years ago I vacationed in Costa Rica and loved the coffee I had there. Before I left I bought coffee for all my friends, but forgot about myself. I was so happy to find this brand, which brings back memories of a delightful time. I won't drink grocery store coffee any more. I am currently in chemo and can't enjoy coffee, but I can't wait to be finished in one more month and again start my day with a taste of Costa Rica.
Frankly, I had never even heard of Britt until I first visited Costa Rica about 10 years ago. A coffee lover, I sampled all the major brands while there. I found I liked Britt the best. But Britt only offered a couple of blends at that time. Since then, they started expanding with a more gourmet line (and continue to do so). Today, with the capability of ordering online, I've since tried them all. And I found a true winner: Tres Rios Valdivia. Light, smooth, aromatic, and free of acidity. A great choice to wake up with. Tres Rios rates as a favorite breakfast blend.
Drinking a cup of this delicious coffee in the morning is the best part of my day.
We tasted this coffee while visiting Costa Rica, and decided we would treat ourselves from now on to really good coffee for a change. Our first impression was the cleanliness of the facilities, then when we tasted the coffee, we were slaves to Costa Rican Coffee! We love ordering and sharing the coffee with our friends and family. The coffee aroma awakens us in the morning, and we enjoy a small cup after dinner in the evening. We like it so much, we take it with us when traveling and make our own coffee.
Thank you for providing a lovely coffee experience for us.
I was introduced to this coffee when my brother and sister-in-law brought a bag back for me as a gift from their vacation in Costa Rica. It was so good that I saved it for special occasions, not realizing I could order more on-line. When it was gone, I didn't even want to throw the bag away because the aroma was so delicious. That's when I noticed the WEB SITE address!! Hallelujah!!! I immediately ordered a six pack (so I could get the free shipping) and have been in coffee heaven ever since. Thank you for this wonderful coffee. You have a customer for life.
I first got this coffee as a gift and took it on vacation with me. When I made it the first morning, my sister in law said "this is the best coffee I've ever tasted" and I have to agree. I went online and bought some while I was still on vacation and now I can't live without it.
After my trip to Costa Rica ,it was all over for the different coffees I would buy at the market.Who am I to tell you this is the best coffee ever, and why would you believe me anyway, you don't even know me.The only bummer is I have to order it at Cafe Britt.com , [...].Just do it. Andy
I first came into contact with Cafe Britt when I visited Costa Rica about six years ago. We stayed at the Mariott and they served the best coffee I had ever tasted. When I asked the Chef about it, he told me they only use Cafe Britt. I went the same day to the plantation where they roast it and made arrangements to have it shipped to me. I now serve it to all my guests and even have several who buy it from me when I get my shipment. We all agree that we have tried all the coffee houses and none even come close to serveing as good a cup as we make at home with Cafe Britt. Our favorite is Tres Rios Valdivia.
I visited the Britt Plantation in Costa Rico in 2004 and since then no other coffee has satisfied. It is the smoothest coffee I have ever tasted and I have been drinking coffee for over 50 years. I have given it as gifts and all the recipients now order it. They all thank me for introducing them to the coffee.
This has been my favorite Costa Rican coffee. I like to rotate though many of the blends, but Tres-Rios remains at the top.
I ordered this for Christmas presents, the coffee is great, the packaging is festive, [...]. The recipients loved it.
My husband visited the area in Costa Rica where this coffee is grown - he brought some back and now we can't live without it. We are so glad we can order it online. It is my favorite coffee.
My husband and I first discovered Cafe Britt while on our honeymoon in Costa Rica in 2001. We fell in love with the country, the people and the coffee. We brought home hearts filled with wonderful memories and a suitcase full of Cafe Britt coffee! We had planned to return to Costa Rica for our 5th anniversary but along came our sweet baby girl so it looks like our trip back will have to wait. In the meantime we continue to enjoy Cafe Britt coffee on a regular basis thanks to online ordering! We've tried most of the coffee types Cafe Britt offers and have enjoyed them all but Tres Rios Valdivia is my favourite.
I ususally purchase the [$] 11 for the price of 10. Usually I buy 1/2 dark roast and 1/2 light roast. The last order I purchased a mixture and was delightfully surprised at the Tres Rios Valdivia brand. Since my first visit to Costa Rico in February 2008 I have savoured your coffees and now I have another brand to choose from. Thanks!
Not as good as the shade grown organic Cafe Britt.
You will not be dissappointed with this coffee!
I never enjoyed coffee until we visited Costa Rica. The hotel had the most awesome coffee. We asked to see the packaging...and we have been drinking it ever since! We started out with the Costa Rica Dark Roast and I LOVED it, but after two years, my husband admitted he didn't like it. We tried the Organic and it was o.k., but the Tres Rios is SPECTACULAR! What a way to start the day! I never knew coffee could be this good[...] We have given away bags of coffee and the wonderful nuts and candies you have. People LOVE the gifts from Costa Rica.
Visited Costa Rica in December of 2007. Brought back a few different coffees. Ended up buying 10 more bags of Tres Rios and having them shipped. Gave some away as gifts. I pretty much had stopped drinking coffee, until I tasted this. No more Folgers in the morning or ever!
I have reflux, and this coffee is sooooo smoooth that I can drink it all the time, as I did when I visited beautiful Costa Rica. One of my favorite vacations!
This is the only coffee I have ever enjoyed without having to add cream or sugar. Rarely do I leave a cup unfinished - but cold, it is just as enjoyable. Smooth in taste with no after taste. And no matter how much I have, No coffee jitters!!! Love, Love, Love it!!
I was in Costa Rica for a short time. Decided to bring home some bags of coffee as gifts. They were so eye catching. The quality came highly recommended by friends in CR. Everyone that I have given them to as gifts absolutley loved it. I had never tried the coffee until I actually got home and fell in love with it. Now I wonder if I should have given the others away....lol
This coffee is worth every penny!
This was given to me in a basket as a house warming gift. I thought this was ideal. After I tried it I was hooked. I will definitely give this as a gift in the future and keep on drinking this lovely coffee.
at christmas i give bags to clients and friends as gifts and i have never gotten a bad review. which is very remarcable considering i live where starbucks and other big coffee giants emerged from.
Morning wake up before i head to my regular work-filled day
With only one cup of coffee allowed per day, it had better be good, and this really is,
MY PARENTS BROUGHT THIS HOME FROM COSTA RICA, AND I
HAVE SINCE HAD TO ORDER MY OWN.
I WILL BE ORDERING MORE SOON. I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THE WONDERFUL FLAVOR.
We visited the Cafe Britt coffee plantation in Costa Rica last April and enjoyed learning all about how coffee is grown and processed. When we tried some of the samples of coffee in the gift shop, we just kept going back to Tres Rios.
Tres Rios has a smooth yet distinct taste of good coffee. There are no hints of added flavors---just GOOD coffee. For us, that is what it is all about! It is a wonderful treat any time.
I traveled to Costa Rica several years ago on a surf trip. In the tour books, it said Costa Rica was known for their coffee and to buy lots of it so I followed their advice. I drank it in Costa Rica and have been drinking it at home since. I filled a duffle bag with it and brought it home to share. Thank goodness Cafe Britt put their website address on the bags, otherwise I would have been bummed to have run out before thinking to look on the internet. I have been ordering coffee from them since, usually 2 cases at a time. I love turning my friends on to simply the best coffee I have ever had. This coffee is good at any time of day. The aroma is outstanding, the smoothness simply cannot be missed and the finish is superb. Thank goodness I don't have to shop around for a decent coffee anymore. Starbucks was taking over here and their coffee is so burnt!
We bought this coffee when in St. Maarten and loved it. Our travel companions also fell in love with Tres Rios. When we came home, I looked in all of the stores - thinking I would find it. When I failed, I went on a "Google" mission and found this site. I purchased the coffee for myself and my travel companions as a Christmas present. I knew it would be a hit - and it was! Very bold AND smooth taste in one cup.
I buy my coffee by the (20) case and share it with family, friends and make it a part of my special appreciation gifts for my clients.
My feedback is always so positive.
As I write this review I am sitting here sipping my cup of Tres Rios Valdivia, my favorite coffee. My wife and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. The taste of all Cafe Britt coffees, but especially this one bring back the tastes and smells of the trip. The taste is amazingly crisp with no bitterness or burnt taste whatsoever, perfect for your morning routine. I now only make Cafe Britt coffees and typically favor Tres Rios and the new Poas but also enjoy the shade grown organic and dark roasts. If there is a downside to Cafe Britt coffees it is that they are so superior to our locally available supermarket and coffeehouse coffees that I don't want to drink anything else and Cafe Britt is only available here by mail order. One day somebody is going to realize that there is a lot of money to be made selling this coffee by the cup.
I have tried the rest and settled on the BEST! The tres rios is hands down the best coffee I have ever tasted. Why waste your taste buds other cheap imitations, drink the best that is the Tres Rios!
