This has been our "home coffee" since our son brought some home for us in 2004. Love it!
I grind the amount of beans per cup of coffee as the ground coffee that I used to put in the coffeemaker. It gives me much richer stronger flavor without the bitterness I got with regular ground coffee of various brands, when I made it a little strong. The best coffee overall that I ever drank, anytime night or day.

While we enjoy all of Britt's products, Shade Grown has become our favourite. Its taste is unique and smooth.
I can drink it all day long. It gives me a lift, but yet doesn't keep me awake at nite. Amazing.

Before I do anything else, I fire up my Capresso Z6 LOADED with Britt beans and have at least two cups of coffee. I discovered this coffee on a trip to Costa Rica in 2006 and brought back 30 pounds to the US. Sadly I ran out recently and almost resorted to the unthinkable, polluting my Z6 with something other than Britt beans. I can always replace my $3800 coffee maker...but don't expect me to go without my Organic Shade Grown delicious coffee from Costa Rica. This is the best!
I've always loved the aroma of coffee but the taste never seemed to live up to the smell; that is, until I discovered Cafe Britt Shade Grown Organic Coffee on a recent trip to Costa Rica. I usually take milk in my coffee, but this coffee is so smooth and mellow, I would drink it black throughout the day! It's the perfect complement to any meal or dessert. It's the only coffee where great aroma and great taste truly go hand-in-hand. It never disappoints. I also love the fact that's it's organic.

We tried this coffee in Costa Rica and loved it so much that we have made it our chosen coffee for all times and order it every year as gifts for friends and family!
I visited costa rica and fell in love with the country, the people and love their coffee. I had ordered it and shared with alot of people and they keep having me order more. I wish I could buy it from our stores but as long as I can over the internet I will continue. Here they don't know what coffee is!! Costa Rica Does!!!

My daughter visited your plantation in 2005, and brought me home a bag of your Organic Coffee. I have ordered from you since, my friends fight over who gets your coffee, it is the absolute best I have ever had.I start my day with a cup of Organic, have a decaff during the day.The price is very good, the product is excellent, and even when I travel I take your coffee with me!It's all great.
I love the smell of the coffee brewing in the morning, it has such a fresh smell! The flavour is strong without being bitter, and i just love showing it off to my friends.

I recently returned from my first visit to Costa Rica. Before leaving I picked up several packages of coffee at the local market - each one the premium offering from several different Costa Rican roasters. One was Cafe Britt's Shade Grown Organic. The difference between Shade Grown Organic and all the others was extroardinary! What flavor! Rich, smooth with a wholesome, earthy quality that I can only describe as "organic!" It really takes me back to the rain forests of Costa Rica, the flowers, the birds, the orchids. It's "pura vida" in a cup.

Whenever great coffee is discussed Jamaica Blue Mountain and Kona are always mentioned. There needs to be third. The Shade Grown Costa Rican Coffee by Cafe Britt. There are expectations regarding great coffee and Cafe Britt delivers. It hits the palate like a gentle bomb. A full, rich mouth encompassing sensation reflecting, fruit, nuts, earth and chocolate. As if this were enough it then lingers upon the palate for a beautiful finish with no bitterness whatsoever. I have brewed it especially strong on occasion and there was still no bitterness. Even as it cools there is no, usually expected, sourness because of acidity. Simply, a great coffee made that way because the people at Cafe Britt really know how to roast coffee. When I open a fresh bag I make sure to have my nose close so I can be overwhelmed by the bouquet. I am told I make great coffee. It's not me it's the Cafe Britt. AHB

Having determined that drinking most coffee caused such a host of health issues for my husband and I we learned to ignore the urge to indulge - the shaky hands and heart palpitations alone were enough to warn us that the pleasure was simply not worth the discomfort! That is, until our first trip to Costa Rica! While there, we would enjoy breakfast outdoors on the terrace while soaking up all the sensory pleasures of the area. One morning we were offered some fresh local coffee which we could not resist. To our delight, in spite of enjoying multiple cups of the heavenly brew, we experienced no ill effect. En route home we purchased this treasure at the airport and were greatly disappointed when the stash had been consumed. Then, one day our son surprised us with a gift from Café Britt- our wonderful discovery from Costa Rica!!! We have introduced many of our guests to this fabulous coffee and the acclaim is consistent - simply the best!
I came back from costa rica with 12 bags of this coffee. I absolutly loved the taste and freshness. it was a coffee I could drink anytime of the day. it was smooth and it tasted just like a little bit of paradise

I love a good cup of coffee.I started importing the standard Cafe Britt light roast after tasting it during the plantation tour a few years ago. Now that I've tried them all, I like the Costa Rica Shade Grown Organic coffee the best. I've never found a better coffee anywhere!
Drinking Britt coffee is like pampering myself with a special treat, only I don't save it for special occasions -- it is the only coffee we drink! Love it!

Back in 2000 I decided to go on a journey for the best cup of coffee. it got to a point where I ended up in Costa Rica and decided to crete my own full body low acid coffee. I bought an ECO plantation in Turrialba and created the bean I was looking for. Back in 2003 I had heard about Cafe Britt. One of the most up and comming coffee companies in Costa Rica. I tried the coffee and was not too impressed at that time. Than back in 2006 I was shoping in a [...] and came across the Poas Volcanic Earth by Café Britt. What a shocker that was . I have never tased a more smother and full body ECO coffee in my life. it even blew away my coffee. Since that day I have put my plantation up for sale as I have finaly found the coffees of the decade Shade Grown Organic and Poas Volcanic Earth by Café Britt. Keep it up Britt your the best in the world..
I did not know Organic could taste so good. I now give it as a gift to all my family and friends when I return to the US

Since our visit to Costa Rica in October 2005, I have not used any other coffee but yours! We tried it in our resort room and absolutely loved this coffee. I have had various varieties of coffees on my visits to Costa Rica and I've tried all of the cafe britt dark roasts. The Organic is a great all around coffee we drink hot and cold and we brew it in a French Press. I highly recommend giving the Organic a try, you could spend a lot of time and money looking for a better all around coffee and you'll still end up at the Organic as your favorite.

We drink this anytime of the day and it always tastes great. I love when you first open the bag the aroma is excellent. It is one of our favorite Costa Rican coffes but we like them all. We have bought them all several times. We buy this coffee and give it to our friends and they love it too. I would recommend it anyone.

We received this coffee as a gift and found it to be smooth, flavorful, and didn't have any bitterness. When shared with friends, comments were "what a GREAT cup of coffee". It was so good we gave it as Christmas gifts to our friends and have had rave reviews as well. This is the coffee that needs to be shared!

My Husband and I discovered this coffee while on vacation in Costa Rica. Many great things happened on that trip, my HUsband learned to surf etc...but every morning when we drink our cup of Cafe Britt, it reminds us of that fabulous trip. My Husband WAS NOT a coffee drinker before we discovered Cafe Britt. Now, he still will not drink any other coffee, but he LOVES his Cafe Britt each and every am!

One way we can support the environment in Costa Rica and enjoy a great taste. Not as full bodied as the Poas, but very enjoyable. You don't have to sacrifice coffee to save the planet. Much less expensive than other organics.

I use several Cafe Britt products....all of them are great! Enjoying a cup of freshly ground and brewed Cafe Britt coffee brings back wonderful memories of my visit to Costa Rica and the Cafe Britt head quarters. This is our morning "power-up" -- full bodied, great aroma; this gets us going in our cold north winters. Very smooth and deep flavor. This also makes terrific, refreshing iced coffee when it's hot and humid outside. Good stuff! Muy bueno!

This is excellent coffee! I offered my son and his wife a couple of bags, but they did not want to take it. He said that going back to grocery store coffee after drinking Cafe Britt coffee was almost intolerable. THEY TOOK IT ANYWAY.

My first taste of Cafe Britt, oddly enough, was Purple Sage Elementary School in Austin TX. After that, it was a beeline for the internet for me. I've ordered a case, brewed, savored, quaffed, and given as gifts for faculty and staff. "Oh, yes," said our Principal "I am familiar with this brand from my training days in Spanish in San Jose. It doesn't get any better." and, And it doesn't...
My young grandson made me aware of the importance of purchasing organic shade grown coffee and gave me a lecture on taking care of our environment. So I am not only doing something worthwhile but enjoying myself at the same time. I converted from being a tea drinker to a coffee junkie and became very particular about the coffee I drink. Britt does it for me. Keep on growning and roasting and I will keep on drinking.

I have been traveling to Costa Rica since 1990, before Cafe Britt offered internet ordering I would on every trip to Costa Rica pack up 15 to 20 kilos of Cafe Britt and hand carry back to the states to insure I had enough of this exceptional coffee for all of my friends and family. This organic shade grown coffee is absolutely delicious. It is strong, but not bitter and overwhelming. It has a bold taste and aroma, but not like that nasty stuff you have brewing at the office. It accompanies dessert better than a fork and spoon, it will wake you up faster than the alarm clock and it tastes like the way you think coffee should taste but doesn't unless you douse it with cream and sugar. Try it black even if that is not your custom. This is the quality that too many American's refuse to make time for. Spend that extra buck and treat yourself to the best coffee you've had in years if not ever.
Since tasting this coffee whilst on holiday in Costa Rica in February 2005 I prefer it to all other types and brands.[...]

I almost stopped drinking coffee a few years ago and then I visited Costa Rica. Britt coffee made drinking coffee a whole new experience. It had excellent flavour and I truly enjoyed every cup. Also I am a biologist and birder and knowing that this coffee is shade-grown is very important. With it being fair trade as well, it is the perfect combination.
