5.0 Superior Coffees.

by Robert F. Wayland from Little Rock, Arkansas on Jan 16, 2012

After visiting Costa Rica and drinking Britt coffee, my wife and I prefer to purchase all of our coffee from CafeBritt. We have tried and enjoyed all of the Costa Rican coffees, but our favorites are the Poas Volcanic Soil and the Shade Grown Organic coffees. They are wonderful gifts for our family and friends.

5.0 Smooth, delicious coffee!

by Lesley Bindloss from Irvine on Jan 15, 2012

We went to Costa Rica in September and absolutely loved the coffee we were served every morning. I wanted to find it when we got home, so ordered it from this site. Delivery was speedy and the product is just as fantastic as the original we had in Costa Rica. Miss the view, though!

5.0 Enjoy the best in coffee

by David Hubbard from Junction City, Kansas on Dec 14, 2011

Spent 8 days in Costa Rica and enjoyed a visit to Britts in Heredia. We like the dark roast, but the Poas volcanic is the best for breakfast. It's very smooth and absolutely not bitter. I like it without cream or sugar. My wife wants the cream. We use the Costa Rican drip method which we saw demonstrated at the coffee plant. We will definately want to order more coffee. Pura vida!!

5.0 Better than I thought coffee could be!

by Jessica Sakal from Meadville, Pa, Usa on Dec 14, 2011

I've always enjoyed coffee, and previously had thought that I'd tasted quite a range. Now, that I've visited Cafe Brit, I'm spoiled! I tell all of my family and friends (and anyone I get the chance) that even the worst coffee in Costa Rica is better than our best here in the US, and Cafe Brit is their best -- can you imagine! Now, Cafe Brit is the absolute TOP of my list. The Poas coffee is a wonderful experience, every time you drink it! I've been saving up to purchase a bulk of coffee to share with my family and friends here. Thank you for your hard work and passion you put into the coffee...it truly shines through!

5.0 Personal favorite

by Linnae Carlson from Welch on Oct 29, 2011

I tried several of the Britt Costa Rican coffees and they were all good. I left the Poas for the last but i turned out to be my favorite. The taste is as smooth as silk and I love the aroma. I didn't think there would be much difference in the coffees I tried but this one, for my taste, was the smoothest.

Poas Volcanic Earth Coffee

Product Detail

Misty ecosystems and fertile soil. Altitude and legend. The conditions that produce our Poas Volcanic Earth coffee have been nurtured over the millennia on the slopes of Costa Rica’s most-visited active volcano. This is the choice of connoisseurs. The changeable, volcanic climate produces a complex coffee with surprising taste subtleties.

Roasted dark, our Poas has an enticing aroma and sweetness when hot. As it cools, hints of earth and lemon emerge. Each sip produces the same exhilaration as a lucky glimpse of the volcano’s deep-blue crater lake.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.

Coffee Connoisseur

The aroma arouses your senses even before the cup touches your lips. Your journey has begun to the edge of Costa Rica’s active Poas Volcano. Nature’s volatility — which played a key role in creating this lushly fertile landscape — also helped give birth to the exceptional coffee of this Central Highlands region.

While steam rises from your cup, reminiscent of the active crater, pay homage to the smoking mountain that for millennia has spilled precious minerals into the surrounding land creating extraordinarily fruitful soil. Your palate is not dreaming. A touch of the smoky, volcanic soil has imparted its flavor into the coffee beans and is deliciously juxtaposed alongside fruity flavors and a bit of bright lime.

Unlike the unpredictable mountain climate that produces these select beans, the Café Britt Poas Volcanic Earth will consistently provide a complex, aromatic cup.
