5.0 LARGE FRENCH PRESS COFFEE MAKER

by Joseph A. Mirabella from Tampa on Jul 16, 2010

The NICEST French press that I have ever encountered! The gold model is especially exquisite and worthy of display...even if you don't drink coffee! A real curio and a great gift for a lucky coffee lover!

4.0 Works great, very cute

by Laura from Tampa, Fl on Dec 31, 2009

It works great and makes delicious coffee, however I wouldn't say it holds 3 cups of coffee unless you're talking espresso shots. Luckily I bought it just for me, so it doesn't matter that it only holds about 12 ounces, which for me is one cup of coffee. If there's more than one coffee drinker in your house, I'd buy the bigger size for sure.

Product Detail

The coffee press is coffee connoisseurs’ ideal method for brewing coffee. For the rest of us, it’s a practical way to enjoy a great cup of java. Café Britt is happy to introduce this witty combination of refined looks and ease of use, that creates the steamy aroma and full-bodied coffee flavor we all love.

Add a few scoops of your favorite Café Britt coffee, pour in hot water that’s just below the boiling point, put the lid on and let the coffee brew for two or three minutes. Gently push down the lid. The ground coffee stays at the bottom while the rich body of brewed coffee is left for your enjoyment!

Large press: Makes 6 to 8 cups.

Small press: Makes 1 to 2 cups.

Coffee Connoisseur

Like many of the best inventions, the French Coffee Press seems to have resulted from an accident.  Legend has it that around the mid 1800s, the serendipitous incident happened on a hillside when a Frenchman forgot to add his coffee to his water before boiling it (the usual method.) Improvising, he tossed the ground beans in just after the water had boiled.  After the beans rose to the top, he used a piece of screen to press them down.  The accidental inventor took his first delicious sip and knew it was a new beginning for all coffee lovers to come.

The design of the French Coffee Press as we know it is attributed to an Italian designer who used a glass jar much like a laboratory beaker and fitted it with a plunger and filter to press the beans to the bottom.

French Coffee Presses have become an inseparable ally of any gourmet coffee lover. It is Café Britt’s recommended brewing method because it produces the most rich and creamy brew with abundant coffee flavor.  The reason it is superior is because coffee oils are not trapped in a paper filter nor burned in a percolator.  The ground beans are left to float up through just boiled water lazily and form a rich, thick brew that reflects the coffee bean’s aroma, flavor and true taste.
