5.0 I don't know why, but....

After using the Tarrazu Montecielo Coffee, which spouse & I really liked, I decided to try the Organic Shade Grown. Much smoother and satisfying! Still not quite enough of that coffee aroma after brewing, but definitely a 'keeper'. I will purchasing the Shade Grown from now on.

5.0 caramel notes in shade grown

This was given as a gift many years ago and I have not found a coffee I like better since. It's a great everyday coffee that you don't tire of. Some time ago, I learned that one of the reasons why shade grown coffees can be tastier is that they often take longer to mature since they're grown in the shade. Apparently, this causes the sugars to develop more and so you get more natural carmelization when the bean is roasted. THUS the richer, sweeter, smoother coffee experience.

My daughter went to Costa Rica on a missionary trip to help the local people there, she brought me this coffee and I loved it. Since then I have been trying all the other kinds from Cafe Britt and this is still my number one choice!

After trying this coffee, I realized that any coffee described as having an "earthy" flavor or aroma really taste like dirt to me. Reminded me of Asian coffee, which I dislike for the same reason; it tastes like dirt.
