5.0 Tarrazu Montecielo Coffee

by Marilyn Ward from Belleville on Jul 3, 2011

First had this coffee in Costa Rica while on a Holland America Cruise. The speaker on the cruise promoted the coffee - not because he received payment for doing so, but he truly loved it. At the cafe where we went on a tram through the rain forest, it was served. That was it. We bought some and have been ordering it ever since. Sometimes we run out and don't get another order in in time. Store bought coffee whether a store brand or another specialty coffee just do not match Cafe Britt'sTarrazu Montecielo Coffee. I never thought I'd hear my husband voice a preference for a coffee.

5.0 Café Britt as a promoter of Costa Rica and its coffee

by Grant A Thompson from Canberra Act Australia on Jun 10, 2011

I discovered Café Britt when a local Latin American importer briefly succeeded in getting a major Australian supermarket chain to stock several products in the range. I used to travel in Central and South America, have visited the beautiful and friendly little country of Costa Rica (including Heredia, Café Britt's base, before the company was formed), and appreciate the best coffee from the region. For my taste, Café Britt Tarrazú Montecielo was a standout: I bought every bag I could find locally until stock ran out. I was delighted to discover that Café Britt is an expert and reliable online shopping provider, and that I can easily obtain the best Costa Rican coffee direct. Café Britt seems exceptional as a clever and successful marketer of fine roasted coffee actually located in an important coffee producing region. My other favourite coffees tend to be grown in places like Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea, and roasted in Vienna, or here. Congratulations on the online market profile Café Britt has achieved for excellent coffee, and for Costa Rican tourism with the clearly very popular coffee tour.

Product Detail

From rocky ground

Experience Tarrazu Montecielo, a blend for the coffee connoisseurs with a penchant for perfection. Grown in the rich volcanic soils of Costa Rica’s famed Tarrazu region, these choice Arabica coffee cherries are ripened evenly at 1,400 to 1,600 meters, hand-picked, sun dried and dark roasted for a unique taste. Café Britt Tarrazu will surprise you with a flavor that hints of cacao and grapefruit and an aroma of aged wood and dark chocolate. Its intensity fills the palate, then fades cheerfully.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.

Coffee Connoisseur

The beans from Tarrazu mature slowly, learning patience from their infancy. Sheltered by the Pacific mountain range, these sought-after beans share their sanctuary with colorful birds and enchanted forests.

Small towns and villages, each named for a patron saint, speckle this high-mountain region. Generations of farmers known for intense dedication to their craft have grown these particularly hard beans on small plantations nestled in valleys and perched on mountain slopes. The beans ripen slowly; requiring coffee pickers to visit each tree three to four times, plucking only the ripest beans, which are then dried under the Costa Rican sun. Café Britt works directly with family farmers to continue the nurturing process of these special beans. From the plantation to your cup, this coffee is patiently cared for with integrity each step of the way. The result is a strong coffee that fills your palate with unparalleled aroma, excellent body, and acidity reminiscent of sweet grapefruit.

Take your time... enjoy every sip.
