5.0 My Morning Moment

by Peggy from Sun City Center, Florida on Feb 6, 2009

I'm not sure whether it's the wonderfully smooth taste or the delightful aroma, but Terrazu Montecielo is a must for starting my day. As I sip that first cup,I often think of the rich green hills of Costa Rica where I first encountered it. Thank you Cafe Britt for being there--and here!

5.0 My very favorite

by Cindi J from Columbia, Md on Jan 14, 2009

This is definitely my very favorite coffee. I first tried it at the Cafe Britt plantation in January 08 and became "hooked". Best in a French press, but good with automatic or manual drip as well. It is a perfect taste.

4.0 FAIR TRADE?!!

by Cat, The Coffee Lover from Boulder, Co on Dec 28, 2008

While this coffee is great and comes from one of the most important coffee growing regions in the Americas, I am dissapointed that you do not offer Fair Trade certified Tarrazu coffee. Particularly since the cooperatives in Dota, Tarrazu, and Llano Bonito all offer Fair Trade Certified coffee. Moreover, I think it is manipulative to claim that you pay a "fair price" to producers to suggest that you are complying with fair trade practices, while not doing so.

Product Detail

From rocky ground

Experience Tarrazu Montecielo, a blend for the coffee connoisseurs with a penchant for perfection. Grown in the rich volcanic soils of Costa Rica’s famed Tarrazu region, these choice Arabica coffee cherries are ripened evenly at 1,400 to 1,600 meters, hand-picked, sun dried and dark roasted for a unique taste. Café Britt Tarrazu will surprise you with a flavor that hints of cacao and grapefruit and an aroma of aged wood and dark chocolate. Its intensity fills the palate, then fades cheerfully.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.

Coffee Connoisseur

The beans from Tarrazu mature slowly, learning patience from their infancy. Sheltered by the Pacific mountain range, these sought-after beans share their sanctuary with colorful birds and enchanted forests.

Small towns and villages, each named for a patron saint, speckle this high-mountain region. Generations of farmers known for intense dedication to their craft have grown these particularly hard beans on small plantations nestled in valleys and perched on mountain slopes. The beans ripen slowly; requiring coffee pickers to visit each tree three to four times, plucking only the ripest beans, which are then dried under the Costa Rican sun. Café Britt works directly with family farmers to continue the nurturing process of these special beans. From the plantation to your cup, this coffee is patiently cared for with integrity each step of the way. The result is a strong coffee that fills your palate with unparalleled aroma, excellent body, and acidity reminiscent of sweet grapefruit.

Take your time... enjoy every sip.
